Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: There’s a big shortage of competent financial advice for middle America. I learned early on in my career about the problems and conflicts within the financial services industry. Many firms cater only to the rich or are primarily product-focused, and I just didn’t want to be that type of firm. Providers & Families was born to help working professionals feel confident about their financial futures.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: I graduated with a degree in marketing in 2010, and marketing jobs were hard to come by. I went to work in banking, and quickly got a feel for what it was like to interact with customers. We also had branch quotas for financial adviser referrals. I got to know a financial adviser in my branch and decided that retail banking was a dead end. I found an opportunity at an insurance company in Camp Hill in June 2011.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: We provide comprehensive financial planning services with a focus on retirement planning for early and mid-career working professionals.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: Growth. We have gotten serious about our marketing this year and are continuing to fine-tune our public outreach, social media and education strategies to try to build connections and obtain new clients.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I love the Appalachian Mountains. I’m a runner, and there’s no shortage of beautiful trails to run on. We have some beautiful views right here in Carlisle. I also just love running on backroads outside of town.
